Sports Management
Hello, I'm Ayşe Delikkafa. I am a senior student of Sports Management at Pamukkale University Faculty of Sports Sciences. Our department was established in 2008 and is one of the four departments within the Faculty of Sports Sciences. After 4 years of education, students graduate with the title of Sports Manager. The aim of the department is to provide a contemporary sports management education that abides foundations of sports sciences in the light of Atatürk's principles and reforms: to train sports managers with ethical values who can apply concepts such as sports economy, sports law, sports management, and sports psychology professionally. Our department is located on the Kınıklı Campus. Although there are mainly theoretical courses in our department, we also have practical courses almost every semester. Since we are in the administrative field of sports, our management courses are as important as our theoretical courses and applied courses. There are courses such as Sports Psychology, Sports Management, Sports Economics, and Leadership. In addition, we also have foreign language courses such as English, French, and German. We have a Psychophysiology Laboratory within our department. Mental measurements are made here. As the Graduation Project, we progress in two ways, academically and socially. In the academic part, we write a thesis by conducting scientific research and studies in a field which determined individually. In the social part, we participate in many social aid and solidarity projects from disadvantaged groups to stray animals. In terms of internship, it is the only University in Türkiye that offers 2 internship opportunities. There are separate internship opportunities in two semesters, one in the state and one in the private sector. In this way, students improve themselves by doing internships in different institutions and organizations, work in different fields and gain networks. After graduation we find job opportunities at sports federations, sports clubs, and sports facilities. Also we can work at the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Students who are willing to pursue an academic career can apply to various master's programs according to their interests. I chose this department because ı am not only interested in what is happening in the field but also what is happening behind the curtains. I like witnessing the administrative part of sports. I choose Pamukkale University because of Kınıklı Campus. There are lots of options in terms of accommodation. Dormitories are very close and there are many student houses available. I can access anything I need whenever I want. The biggest advantage of the department is its academic staff. Professors are very caring and enthusiastic both socially and academically. Also our university is in cooperation with Italy, thanks to the ERASMUS program. I studied in Italy for 5 months. Apart from this, we also have a sports complex where we can benefit from halls such as Fitness Hall, swimming pool and pilates hall. My post-graduation goals are to advance in academia by conducting scientific research and studies in a field that I am interested in. Besides, I want to participate in international projects. What should I say to candidates who are considering to attend? Well, you should not only be focusing on passing exams; you should also attend various activities within the campus and experience the joy of being a student. Do not forget to use our sports facilities. Consider applying for ERASMUS program too. You can do activities such as walking, jogging, yoga, and have a refreshing and enjoyable experince in Çamlık Park, which is also known as the largest park in the Aegean Region, located just above the campus. We welcome you to Pamukkale University.
